We’ve not let the grass grow under our feet, that’s for sure! Since October last year when we took over at Charlton Kings Care Home we have been busy planning and adjusting our plans to make sure we can offer the residents the best environment we can provide.
The beginning of winter is never the best time to start work on a building but there were a few things we really had to get done.
Sadly the wonderful large conifer in the garden was troubling us. It had grown to a height that meant the roots would soon threaten the building so it had to come down. We’ve now a lot more light and a view we didn’t have before.
The conservatory roof was leaking and after much discussion we decided it needed replacing. The new roof went on in January (after we’d fixed the guttering above…..) and it looks great; much more light, higher ceilings and we’ve used special glass to make sure it stays cool in summer!
Storm Doris hasn’t deterred us so next month we’ve scaffolding going up at the front to make sure the roof is in good order.
Internally we’ve been working to upgrade electrics, planning a design for the new boiler room, painting the common parts and are awaiting the new carpet (long overdue).
Two of the bedrooms are having a complete make over with new wet rooms being installed in March so there’s lots to look forward to.
