Committed to Nutrition
Good nutrition is vital to ensuring that our residents are happy, healthy and well catered for here in our home, and it’s something that our dedicated chef team puts a great deal of research, time and effort into. We see food as so much more than a meal for our residents; it’s a real time of enjoyment, a means of nurturing their wellbeing on both a physical and emotional level. We therefore plan all of our meals with this in mind, sourcing fresh, local and seasonal ingredients wherever possible to craft dishes that we know our residents will love. We also keep a close eye on the individual needs of our residents, shaping meals according to dietary requirements and preferences.
Our Approach
With our menus changing each day, you can be sure there aren’t any ‘boring’ food days here at Charlton Kings Care Home. Every morning, our kitchen team works hard to prepare a wonderful variety of fresh, home-cooked meals, making the most of locally-sourced fruit, vegetables and meat in order to ensure our dishes pack a punch when it comes to quality and taste. We also like to involve our residents in their own meal planning, inviting them to share their favourites so that we can ensure they’re able to eat what they like. Variety is key, and so we serve up everything from traditional British classics to modern dishes inspired by worldwide cuisine. Special occasions (of course) call for delicious Afternoon Teas and celebration cakes, whilst on the last Thursday of every month we create a special menu to go alongside an exciting day of activities.
Our Kitchen Team and Facilities
Our Head Chef Mihai leads our kitchen team along with two talented kitchen assistants and the wonderful Hannah – our resident cook – who’s on hand to whip up incredible cakes and puddings; now famous amongst our residents. All of our meals are prepared in our state-of-the-art kitchen facility which we recently installed, where our Chef team have all of the professional equipment and space necessary to create delicious, restaurant-quality meals. Most meals are enjoyed together in our welcoming dining room, but residents are also very welcome to eat theirs in their room should they prefer. Our expert care team are always on hand to assist with feeding wherever needed.
Our Meals
Residents start the day with a plentiful breakfast spread, with the choice of fresh fruit, cereals, toast or a cooked breakfast, all served with tea, coffee and freshly squeezed juice. Lunchtime is a freshly-prepared two course meal with a menu of two dishes to choose from, whilst a light supper is served every evening.
