Due to the current heatwave and soaring temperatures, we were sadly informed that a number of planned activities had to be cancelled, including our Silent Disco and intergenerational visit.
We know how much our residents were looking forward to welcoming everyone into the home and taking part in these special events, so it was naturally disappointing news. However, with the weather continuing to soar, it may have been a blessing in disguise. Keeping our residents safe, comfortable and well is always our top priority.
Very hot weather can be challenging, particularly for older people and those with health conditions. Although these activities were due to take place at the home, the warmer conditions would still have made the day more difficult and potentially uncomfortable for residents.
Our team has continued to support residents by encouraging regular drinks, offering cool and comfortable spaces to relax, and keeping a close eye on everyone during the warmer days.
We hope to welcome the Silent Disco and our intergenerational visitors at another time, when the weather is more suitable. In the meantime, we will continue enjoying plenty of indoor activities, refreshments and quality time together while making sure everyone stays cool and safe.
