  • Provide support and leadership across elderly care, general care, dementia care, learning disabilities and more
  • Enable residents to achieve independence as far as possible in all areas of their life
  • Providing general assistance and care including medication, moving and handling and meeting their health and social care needs
  • Working closely with family members and other healthcare staff

You will be competent in Medication Administration, have experience with managing a care team and have excellent communication skills. This position will include an element of providing personal care to residents, which can be a physically demanding activity, which you must be able to provide.

As our next Health Care Assistant, you will work 12-hour shifts (some of which will be split into 6 hours each), spread out across 3-4 days a week. Working over the weekend will be required, but please note that this will not be every weekend. Interested? Carry on reading to find out more about the role.

What will your day entail?

Alternating between working 4 and 3 days per week, you will be required to work both day and night shifts. Day shifts start at 8am with the team arriving 5 to 10 minutes early so that cups of tea and coffee can be made in time for the morning briefing. Throughout the rest of the day, some of the duties you will carry out will include personal care, support serving meals, nutrition, assisting with activities and spending time with residents.  Our night shifts start at 8pm where you will be briefed before going about your evening duties; helping residents get ready for bed and ensuring they are comfortable. The night shift does tend to be quieter than our daytimes, but there will always be plenty to be done to keep you busy, as well as the need to prepared for it to become busy at any time. Our residents may need assistance throughout the night and a small amount of housekeeping jobs may need to be carried out.

Weekend work will be required but not every weekend. We will always try our best to be flexible when it comes to your shift work and occasionally it will be possible for you to switch to daytimes for a period of time, if you wish.

We are currently recruiting for a Head Chef who will be asked to lead the team in the kitchen, ensuring operations run smoothly and residents benefit from a varied and nutritional diet.

Principal Duties

  • To order fresh food and other foodstuff supplies from Preferred Suppliers.
  • To regularly monitor performance of suppliers and to check that suppliers’ prices remain competitive, ensuring that the Proprietor is kept informed accordingly.
  • To regularly monitor stock control and to inform the Proprietor of any discrepancies. To ensure proper stock rotation of foodstuffs to minimise wastage, and to dispose of promptly any foodstuff found to be past “sell-by” dates for any reason.
  • To prepare menus as agreed with Management, observing residents’ special dietary needs where appropriate.
  • To prepare nutritional food and beverages to a high standard, and promptly in accordance with agreed meal times.
  • To prepare special diet meals as needed, and as directed through appropriate Diet Sheets & Care Plans and to liaise with Senior Care Staff to keep abreast of any changes in residents’ dietary requirement
  • To ensure timely and efficient cleaning of all dishes and cooking utensils.
  • To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and food storage areas at all times, in accordance with the appropriate Food Hygiene Regulations.
  • To ensure management and implementation of safe working procedures and practices in accordance with Health & Safety legislation.
  • To ensure safe operation and maintenance, as needed, of all kitchen equipment. To remove from use and to report to Management any item of equipment found to be faulty or deemed unsafe.
  • To ensure formal monitoring and recording of refrigerator, cooler and freezer temperatures in accordance with Environmental Health requirements, and to ensure their verification with a calibrated thermometer, according to procedures.
  • To assist Management in the resolution of any complaints concerning the catering service.
  • To undertake other duties, as may be necessary from time-to-time.
  • To Manage the kitchen team and rota including staff supervisions.

Housekeeping has always been an important role, now more prominent than ever as a vital part of keeping the home safe for both residents and staff. Starting at 8am and finishing at 4pm, you will be responsible for cleaning rooms, common areas, laundry and, on occasion, spending time with the residents.

Occasional weekend work will be required but we always have a few housekeepers working at any one time, so you’ll never be on your own.

Do you have a love for food and a passion to help people? If so, then our kitchen assistant role could be just what you’ve been looking for. Helping to keep the kitchen area clean and tidy, supporting the rest of the catering team with food preparation, where you will get to input your ideas for seasonal and event menus, and providing meals for the residents with a friendly smile are just some of the day-to-day tasks that you will be required to carry out. Previous experience working in a care home is desired, but not essential. The ideal candidate will have experience working within the catering industry.
